Basic Nutrition Facts For Diabetics

If you have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes it suddenly becomes important to analyze your diet and know what foods are safe for you to eat. The important thing in diabetic nutrition is to limit high starch foods whenever possible. Instead try eating more fruits and vegetables. Fiber is another important factor to consider. This can be found in foods like pasta or brown rice. Fish and lean meats are also healthy choices for diabetic nutrition. There are so many food combinations that you can come up so that it doesn’t feel like you are always eating the same thing.  It is always important to check with your doctor before making any drastic changes to your diet or exercise program but this is especially important for diabetics. It is also imperative to check your glucose levels often. This helps in knowing what types of food you may need to eat. For example if your glucose levels are low you may want to consider something with a little sugar in it but if they are high you will want something that has little or no sugar. Doing this will help to keep your sugar levels where they need to be.
